Papi Chulo's BLOG proudly presents an exclusive interview series titled "In Bed with Papi Chulo." This series will feature the hottest stars in mainstream and adult media.
Brandon Longwood (Born: December 9, 1971) is known for his smooth, sensual style and sexual intellect. Longwood has established a name in the adult industry through his successful website, BrandonLongwood.com.
Standing 6'1 and weighing 160lbs ... Brandon Longwood has worked with some of the most popular girls on the web. He formed Major F-ing Star in 2006 to assist with the production of his own feature work.
Brandon Longwood has also released several titles in which he directs. His most recent directorial effort is Affirmative Macktion. Other titles he has directed include Nasty White Girls and Desperate Hot Wives.
I sat down with Brandon to chat about how he got into the adult industry ... his work as a director ... and his website ...
Papi Chulo: How long have you been in the adult industry?
Brandon Longwood: A while. I think going back now about 4 1/2 to 5 years. I don't keep exact track. I think everything started about the end of 2004 maybe. Yeah. Seems about right.
PC: How did you get into the adult industry?
BL: I've always been a bit of a freak. A large freak. More than just a bit. My wife and I have an open relationship, since before we got married. I was very much active online through various channels (groups, yahoo and message boards) looking for various NSA types of relationships. Over a period of time that I encountered folks, they required I verify myself or I required to have them verify themselves to see if they were serious about what they were doing. After getting frustrated with that, I thought it would be a lot better to do something where I don't have to do the verify process all the time. That led me to consider doing adult stuff.
I started with a local web girl, Kat Noir. I met with her and her husband one night just for dinner about the possibility of doing a shoot. I met her online and said I was interested in getting together, but she had said that she only met for shoots for her site. I never had done something like that. I figured, "What the hell?" I gave it a shot. I talked with them and asked them questions. How does this whole thing work? I was concerned about being found out. After hearing the answers to my questions, I felt I would be a good candidate. Not just because of my sexual history, but because I have a background in multimedia development/web design/graphic design. I was able to do that on my own. I had run a graphic design firm for five years before that. I did my first shoot for someone else's site, which led to my own site.
PC: How did you come up with your porn name?
BL: The name? You know, that's a good question. I can't exactly remember how it came about, but I know I didn't want something that was corny. I'm an old school kinda guy. I really liked the older names that evoked the '70s cliché kind of things. I didn't want to do something modern cliché like a "Black Steel" kind of thing. Or "Mr. Black." Not 'cause I thought it was too corny, a lot of other guys are doing that sort of thing. I wanted something that reflected my size, the porn aspect of it, but still could be seen as a real name. That's how I came up with the "Longwood" part. And what would the first name be? "Brandon" seemed like a unique enough name. Just with a lot of brainstorming and trail and error, the right name rolls out the mouth and seems natural when you hear it. I was like, that was it. So, that's how it came about.
PC: Were you always interested in doing porn?
BL: Umm... I don't think. No. No. I don't think I was as a matter of fact. I think that for most of the period, I didn't have anything more than a curiosity of what it would be like to be an adult performer. I think I first discovered internet porn in the mid-90s, when I, like a lot of other geeks, started to get online and at the same time through various newsgroups you see photos. I remember being attracted to the more amateur-style things, 'cause I was used to seeing Hustler and the big time productions. I remember seeing some original screencaps from early West Coast Productions stuff. It seemed to have this rawness to it. And authenticity. Just regular guys and girls. I know that was the thing that first got me thinking I could do this. At the time, I just had a little girl. I was doing some stuff with different organizations. It didn't feel it was the right thing for me to be in at the time. Initially it didn't seem like it was something I could do. During the final days of my graphic design firm, if I closed up shop I told the guys I worked with that I would be in the porn biz. We laughed about it. I think I was only halfway joking,
because here I am now.
PC: What was your first day on a porn set like?
BL: It was interesting because there was, as you encounter with any first day, that nervousness. Fortunately for me, it was not with a major kind of production outfit. It was a shoot with a woman at the time doing a site with Southern Charms. She went by the name Nymph. In western Pennsylvania, she set up a little content shoot party with a couple other Charms girls. She and I and one of her girlfriends from New York had came, and another girl from Southern Charms. We got a room there with spouses. It was during the NCAA tournament several years ago. Very cool, calm, relaxed situation that really helped. The girls did the shooting first. The girl/girl action was helpful in many ways. I got a chance to relax. I was really excited to do my portion of the shoot. I did my thing and it was nice. It was different for me. I had performed in front of some folks prior to then. I had never done anything on cam other than private stuff I had done with my wife and some friends. Not in the same way though, with lights or filmed for the purpose of other people checking it out. I felt comfortable. I didn't feel any performance anxiety. Ever since then, I try to model my shoots the same way. Very laid-back, casual about it. I like to be about business, but I don't like my shoots to feel like business.
PC: Who have been some of your favorite starlets to work with?
BL: I have to say that I will start with a couple big names. First, one of the most memorable shoots I did was in Vegas at a good buddy of mine's, Rico Shades, orgy shoot. The female talent included Simone Riley, Nikki Hunter and Kelly Wells. That was a very hot shoot. 'Cause it was probably one of the first times I got to work with major, major top A-list California talent. At that time, prior to that, I hadn't done work with A-list girls, besides another memorable shoot with Sara Jay. I always talk about the first shoot with her. She was the very first professional porn girl I worked with. I worked with other girls who did some major stuff, like Kat Noir and Susan Reno. But, Sara Jay was the first all porn, all the time. I have to admit, prior to that shoot I was very nervous. What was she going to think? Sara is so fucking cool. Just a pleasure to be around. I should have known when she answered the door completely nude, it would be a great shoot and it was. I worked with some other girls who were very good. Most recently Avalon Chase. She isn't in the biz anymore. I shot
some great stuff with Cherri Cola out of Philadelphia. There was one phenomenal shoot with Cherokee Da' Ass and Beauty Dior before the DC Cherry Video release In Ass We Trust 2. Also a shoot I'm getting read to edit for an upcoming release with Pinky when she was first starting out. That scene was like nuclear reactor-type hot. I've had the opportunity to work with some really cool women. I know I've probably left a few
out, but those were some of the most memorable. I also did a scene with Italia Blue that was awesome. I'm into the chemistry thing. Girls that are comfortable enough to be themselves. I think that makes the product better for it.
PC: What do you enjoy most about filming scenes?
BL: I think, being a man, it's just the ability to be with somebody new. That's always the great thing for me to experience that. Also, like I mentioned, working with someone and there is that chemistry. It's hard to explain. It's different and a level of euphoria that's really great. You forget that everyone is there. You are having a good time and it comes out on camera. It's just some great work. Those are the things. I definitely enjoy that aspect of it. Being with someone that enjoys the work they do. It makes it easier for me to enjoy the work I do.
PC: You have been featured in a variety of scenes that range from one-on-ones to threesomes to group sex ... Which do you enjoy being in the most?
BL: You know, I think that I prefer the one-on-ones the most for a couple of reasons. Group stuff never has been a major attraction to me, even off camera. I've always been a more intimate, sensual, personal kind of person. I appreciate and like it better when it's just me and one person. A lot of my first scenes were threesome scenes. It's every man's dream. I found that unless the other two women in the threesome are into each other, I just don't think they come out as nice as I would want them to. It doesn't flow naturally. I've done some two guys, one girl thing. That's probably one of my least favorites. 'Cause I'm the kind of person to be completely involved in the act. Since I'm not interested in guys at all, I focus on the female. It's great for the female, the get a lot of attention. That type of scene makes me do more work. I focus on the work instead of having fun and letting it happen. THe one-on-ones are my favorites. One-on-ones allow me to be more in control of what happens as far as scene flow and the direction it takes.
PC: In a scene ... Which do you enjoy the most? Oral, vaginal sex or anal sex?
BL: Probably just straight vaginal sex for the most part. The reason for that is I tend to be really particular on how I like to receive oral sex. And while I do enjoy giving anal sex, I don't often get the opportunity to do it 'cause a lot of girls I work with are not prepared to deal with someone of my size. I think throughout my short career, I've done less than half-a-dozen anal scenes. So the vaginal stuff works for me. Generally when I get in the flow, they are comfortable. That's when things are able to roll out nicely. Every once in a while, getting a nice blowjob is always great, you know? (LOL)
PC: In a scene ... What is your favorite place to shoot your load?
BL: You know, that to me, I'm completely indifferent. I will tell you why. To be honest with you what I do... I've always been more about my partner's pleasure than my own. Personally, I feel the money shot, cum shot, is more of something designed to get the guy off than the girl off. Personally, I could care less where it goes or how big it is. Personally, I'm more interested in how she gets off, her orgasm. That's always the way that I was, even off camera. I'm not going to get mine until you get yours. Two or there times. That's just how I roll. How I've always been. That's the one thing of performing I'm not a big fan of. I'm really indifferent. It doesn't matter. I usually
ask what they prefer, where they want it. Just a flip of a coin. Instead of where it landed last time, do something different to mix it up.
PC: You have dabbled in directing. How did you get involved in that process?
BL: For me, just realizing I want to do more than just being on screen talent. My creative roots come back to being a musician. That's what I graduated with. I got a degree in music. I have extensive experience in music production, studio engineering, audio recording and songwriting. I always believe that the further away you are from the microphone, the more in control you have in what goes down. I transferred that into the adult industry. Getting started on cam was good, but I never limited myself to just being on screen talent. Directing was the natural progression. Once I got myself established, my on screen work out there, I gained a sense of legitimacy and it made it possible to work with girls like Avalon and Cherri. I got to build careers for them and to bring my ideas to their
scenes. That's the direction I want to go in the future. I have a lot of stuff planned for the coming months and years. Things that are way beyond what I've been doing now.
PC: What was it like for you to hold your directorial debut DVD in your hands for the first time?
BL: It was good to be done with it. I never had any doubt it was going to happen. I was responsible for making it happen. I secured the financing through various channels of support I had. I took care of the talent, editing, authoring and the concept. I knew how it was going to look. It was great to have it done and get it out there. I was always very pragmatic and sensible about it. It was great. Now it's time to move on to the next thing. I'm very much a perfectionist. It's very hard to
let that child out of my hands for the first time. Letting it out and getting the feedback, that was probably the hardest part of it. Learning to say I'm done with it. I've done everything I can do with it. Now it's time to let it go.
PC: You initially started your porn career online. Was it at all difficult going that route as opposed to a performer that starts working for a porn studio?
BL: I don't know. I've never been one to feel hampered by any obstacles. I thought about doing it online initially 'cause that was the most logical, realistic thing to do. I wanted to be in control of my career and content. It was never a consideration to ask somebody else to shoot for me and hire me. I do what I want to do and dammit I want to do it. So, I did. It started off as a hobby. Through the success, it grew into something more professional. I backdoored by way through it. And it's not like I woke up and said I was going to be a porn star. I had a full time job. I was doing it on the side for extra money. I was able to meet some great people and build connections. That gave me the opportunity to do more higher level, professionally-oriented projects.
PC: Tell me a little bit about your latest release Affirmative Macktion.
BL: It wasn't unlike a lot of productions. There wasn't a lot of planning and forethought as to how it would be shot. Prior to the release, I was shooting stuff for my website. I went through the content to see what were the best scenes. It's a combination of good girls and good performances. That's how I was able to do those pairings into that collection and come out with it. That's really how a lot of my work has been. The stuff has been self-financed. I'm not working with the same budget as a lot of the studios. Thankfully it has been well received. Being outside of California, it takes some time to put out releases, since I don't have access to the same talent. But, I have been able to use some girls that haven't been used before or a lot. And it allows me to serve that niche I've made for myself.
PC: Just how big are you below the waist?
BL: 11" down and 7" around. And hard as penitentiary steel. I mention the harness factor 'cause it's been mentioned to me by the females I've worked with. And as opposed to the other well-endowed men in the industry, I've been told, "You are just as big" and such and such and "definitely one of the hardest guys" and so forth. I was recently told I was harder than Lexington Steele. I guess that counts for something.
PC: You possess an impressive piece of meat. When did you first realize you were packing so large?
BL: You know, I don't... can't pinpoint an actual date. I think it definitely started sometime in college. That, for me, was when I really sort of had my sexual awakening or maturing or whatever you want to call it. There was one partner I had who just couldn't stop talking about it, both during and afterward. Really making a point of it. I always thought of myself as a fairly modest individual. That might be something hard to believe for someone who is in porn, but it didn't dawn on me that I was more than average. After that, I began to notice. Some girls passed the word to some of their friends and they came to find out for themselves. It became a bit of an issue. Yeah, that's probably when it all began.
PC: What's the initial reaction you usually get when you whip him out?
BL: Well that depends. For me, it depends on the scenario and the situation. If I'm relaxed and into it and aroused, then there's usually some folks who have seen it before and I get "ooh." And others who haven't and are like, "Wow!" It all depends on who the person is. And if I have worked with them. Others say that it's bigger than they thought it would be. Bigger than they imagined. You have to question if they are being honest or if they are performing even with the camera off. Sometimes women like to say things 'cause they know it makes their partner feel good.
PC: You shoot some pretty large pop shots. Do you do anything particular to maintain those large loads?
BL: No. Not at all. I don't really think about it. They tend to vary at times. I notice mainly because I'm fortunate enough to be in the situation to do it more than once. The first ones are larger. I am in the position to shoot several scenes in a day or have multiple loads in a scene. It will depend. The common things I do is maintain a good diet. My wife helps me with the diet before the shoot and abstaining from sex and masturbation. Sometimes that's hard dude. I'm a guy and I need to get off. It depends on the girl. If I've worked with them and I'm comfortable and
have chemistry, that will affect what goes on. The bottom line is, I'm human, not a machine. The more human, the more natural the situation is. The more authentic the performance is gonna be.
PC: How and when did you lose your virginity?
BL: When I was a teenager. I was 13 at the time when it happened. I mentioned that in one of my bios when I was starting out my website. CCBill told me to take it down. They didn't approve of it. They thought it had to do with child pornography. (LOL) Whatever. That's how it started with me. I was well underage. If I could have done it sooner, I would have.
PC: What do you enjoy doing sexually?
BL: I don't know. I think like a lot of folks, definitely when a woman knows how to give a blowjob. Then, that's always good. Doggystyle is probably one of my favorite positions when a woman can take it the right way. Yeah, definitely. It's weird 'cause I never really thought a lot about the things you have asked me. So, it's kinda cool.
PC: Do you get into any kinds of fetishes?
BL: At the end of the day, anything folks are interested in could be described as a fetish. You may have to define what you categorize as a fetish. I'm just kind of a straight sex kind of guy. I just do it and get into it. I've always had a dominant aspect to my sexuality and overall in my personality. So, some of that can come about, but it's not relegated to the sexual performance. It's not just that I will become a sexual dom. That's just the way I am in real life. I take charge in situations and if there is somebody that responds to that, I will be more into it. The other
stuff, not that I'm against it, it just doesn't do much for me. i enjoy the simple things in life. Call me simple, boring, old-fashioned, whatever.
PC: Describe one of your hottest sexual encounters.
BL: Wow. You know, I am not sure if I can answer that. 'Cause there have been some good ones. I don't think I can nail it down to just one. I get asked a lot, "Who's your favorite girl?" They are all my favorite. Every one has been unique in its own way.
PC: How long have you been in the swinging lifestyle?
BL: I don't know. It's not exactly like I'm a card-carrying member or I was inducted. I just swing with quotes around it. It's not like it's very active for both my wife and I. I have gone to various parties and have had partners outside of the marriage. Both as a couple and individually. It's not that we seek it out. If it happens, it happens. For the most part, we are very happy with each other. Probably before I began my porn career, my wife and I had a couple female partners to share together. I didn't consider it swinging at the time. It's just us doing our thing. We have been married 10 years.
PC: How long have you had your website, BrandonLongwood.com, up?
BL: I launched it in 2005, or maybe 2006. I know I started it in '04. It took a while to get a lot of the content for it.
PC: What can your fans find on your website?
BL: Videos and photos. That's what I've got right now. I have started pre-production on the third iteration of my site. It should be up sometime this month. I have been conspicuously absent and negligent on my webmastering duties due to a lot of reasons. I am redesigning my site to match what has been changing in the internet and so that it is easier to update. I will be relaunching my site to include blogs, Video on Demand content, info on the DVDs, links to my various social networking profiles (MySpace, Xpeeps and Twitter) and music. Music is a part of my life. I want to integrate music and anime to my site. Not just porn. I want the new version of my site to be everything that is me, including sex and hardcore stuff. But, I'm more than just that. I'm more than just a swinging dick.
PC: How can your fans reach you?
BL: The best way for folks to reach me is going to my site. There's a section there to get in contact with me. Messages go directly to me. It also ensures that I'm being contacted by a real person and not a bot. I'm also on Twitter, MySpace and Xpeeps. For folks that I'm comfortable with and I know well, I do have various messenger programs. More recently, I stay off of them. I'm really busy with what I'm doing. So, I don't have the time for idle chit chat unless it's business.
PC: What upcoming projects can we expect to see you in?
BL: Definitely. Be on the look out for In Ass We Trust, Volume 3. That's a title I'm editing as we speak. It includes a scene with me and Pinky which is just straight fire. It's just ridiculous. I bang Pinky from one side of the room to the other. I'm really excited about it, 'cause the last movie I edited from DC Cherry Video, which wasn't one of my own projects, was nominated for an AVN Award (Freaks wit Cheeks). I edited and starred in it. Then, I will be putting out another DVD release before the end of the summer. I'm playing around with some titles. Don't want to put anything out there yet. It will be another interracial release along the lines of Affirmative Macktion. I will be making that an actual series. I will try to switch the titles up. Instead of Affirmative Macktion 1 and 2. I want to do something fun with the titles. And I'm also going to be releasing my first all-Black title. I will be calling it Chocolate City, which references Washington, D.C. That's where I am from. It will be me with an all-Black female cast. Aside from DVD releases and my new website, I'm working on a very, very major project that will be completed before the end of the year. It's a new web-based project. At this point that's all I will say about it. In a few months, I will be talking about it. It will be hard not to know about it when it gets going. It's still in the early stages, so I'm not trying to let the cat out of the bag.
PC: What are your future plans in the industry?
BL: I'm looking to be more than just male talent. I have gotten things that will help me do more things behind the camera. In addition to directing, I'm very interested in working on ways to bridge the gap of the adult industry and mainstream entertainment industry. Not only to make that work, but make it profitable. That's what I'm going to be involved with in the project I mentioned. Also, more feature length adult DVD releases. I want to go in the direction of movies, like Pirates and so forth. A DVD that actually has a plot, a story, not one that sacrifices on the performances. At the end of the day, it is a porn movie, I don't want to forget that.
I'm reminded of the Burt Reynolds character in Boogie Nights. In the scene in which he's leaving with Dirk Diggler for the first time from the cafe. He talks about his vision. In the film, he says he wants to have a film that once the viewer explodes, they just sit there in their joy juice, so enthralled by the movie. I want it to be hot porn, but to also have a story with it. I've been working on story ideas and projects that blend '70s Blaxploitation and porn. It hasn't been done before. I have a couple
other exciting projects that will expand the bar. Moving it up and ultimately creating an empire of media distribution to deliver adult content and mainstream content. Things that promote a healthy and active open sexuality and sexual communication between partners. I think this country is so closed off and closed-minded with sex. It's time for that to change. Some other things have changed, but we have an old school view on sexuality. It needs to be changed and I plan on being one of the folks working to change it.
PC: Now I am going to ask you seven questions that I like to call "Papi Chulo's LIST." These seven questions have been asked to all of my interview subjects. The first question is ... What are your Top 5 favorite television shows?
BL: I don't really watch a lot of live TV. I don't have cable. Everything we watch is online. I'm hopelessly addicted to LOST. I definitely enjoy Californication. Entourage is my show. Love Entourage. Flight of the Concords. Heroes.
PC: McDonald's Big Mac or Burger King's Whopper?
BL: Neither.
BL: Neither.
PC: What's your favorite color?
BL: Black.
PC: What's your favorite sexual position?
BL: Doggystyle.
PC: What's your favorite curse word?
BL: Probably fuck. That's just like the best curse word ever. Fuck. It's like a noun and a verb. It's just everything So versatile.
PC: If you could be anywhere right now ... Where would you be?
BL: I would definitely be out of this country. That's fuckin' certain. Somewhere way away. Very nice. Lush green environment. Lots of land. It's hard to really qualify it. But, yeah... I've always been a city boy. But, recently I feel a need to get into wide open space and not feel like a fuckin' rat in a maze.
PC: Well this brings us to the end of our interview ... Is there anything you would like to say to your fans?
BL: It's just great to actually have people that appreciate the work that I do. So, I thank those that support my work, those that talk about my work and share their own satisfaction of my work. Hopefully my fan base grows and goes where it needs to go.
