Papi Chulo's BLOG proudly presents an exclusive interview series titled "In Bed with Papi Chulo." This series will feature the hottest stars in mainstream and adult media.
Tré Xavier (Born: March 31, 1971) got his feet wet in the gay adult industry by appearing on ShowGuys.com. He responded to an ad placed by the popular site and that jump-started Tré's porn career.
Standing 5'6 and weighing 145 lbs ... The 38-year-old performer of African, Native American (Cherokee) and Venezuelan descent has starred in porn productions for Man-Size, Alpha Dawgz, Pitbull Productions and Forbidden Funk Media. Of not are his pairings with Dillion (in Dillon: The One), Favian Gotti (in The Interview) and Ligee (in 69 Fuck Street).
Tré Xavier has made a name for himself on the internet through his controversial blog. Tré's comments on gay-for-pay performers, poppers and racism in the gay adult industry have sparked heated discussions and debates on the interweb.
I sat down with Tré to chat about how he got into the gay adult industry ... the biggest dick he's worked with ... and his controversial blog ...
Papi Chulo: How long have you been in the adult industry?
Tré Xavier: About four years.
PC: How did you get into the adult industry?
TX: I saw an ad in a magazine and I responded to it. I kind of took it from there. It was an ad for the website ShowGuys.com. I did an online show for them and from there, that's when I started throwing my name out a little more to companies.
PC: How did you come up with your porn name?
TX: It's a combination of things. Before I did porn I was into mainstream performing. It's just kind of the way my life works. I seem to get into extreme situations in whatever I get myself into. My first name begins with an "L", so I used the name "L Xtreme." I picked "Xavier" because I've always liked that name. I came up with the "Tré" part from the letters following the "X" in "Xtreme."
PC: Were you always interested in doing porn?
TX: I think so. To a point. Actually I was. I always was interested in doing it. I had put it out of my mind for a bit. At one point, I was looking at it as a way to find out my sexuality. Once I finally figured it all out, by that time, I was in my 30s already. So, I told myself, "Well, I still look good. Why not go for it?"
PC: What was your first day on a porn set like?
TX: My first day on a porn set was for Oh Boy Escorts 2. I do remember very much what that day was like. It was fun. It was definitely something exciting. Actually by the end of the day it felt quite liberating. So, because of my being closeted to myself for so long, to finally have an opportunity to put it in the open for all to see, that part was very liberating. As far as the director and the actor goes... At the time, working with my director, Tyson Cane... It was OK at the time. And my scene partner had actually done it before and he was very attentive to me. So, he was very understanding to the fact that I was new to it. That made it a very good shoot for me to be my first.
PC: Who has been your favorite scene-mate to work with?
TX: That's a funny question, 'cause I have some who are good for the fact that the sex was great. And some where the chemistry of me interacting with them was good. Which one of the two do you want?
TX: OK. Best sex was Favian Gotti in the four man orgy from The Interview. And the best chemistry would have to be Taino from my movie All Out Assault. He's the only scene partner that I've worked with that I've maintained a friendship with off camera.
PC: What do you enjoy most about being in porn?
TX: Being an exhibitionist. Especially in America, where sex is treated like a dirty thing when it's so natural in other parts of the world. So, to have this platform where I can actually let go from that prejudicial attitude, that's what I enjoy most about it.
PC: You have been featured in a variety of scenes that range from one-on-ones to group sex ... Which do you enjoy being in the most?
TX: I think I actually enjoy all of it equally. The one-on-ones give you that moment of intimacy. Being the lust bucket that I am, I do enjoy a bunch of people being sexual around me at the same time. They don't have to be sexual with me. Just sexual, period. I think it once again comes from that whole thing about the American mentality about sex being so repressive.
PC: What has been your most favorite production to work on?
TX: I enjoyed 69 Fuck Street because of the fact that it was only my second movie, and what I wanted to do in my career was not be stuck in the ethnic genre. For that being my second movie, I could get away from that so soon. I was very glad about it. Plus the people I was working with were great. That only added to my fun.
PC: Have you ever been paired up with a performer that you didn't enjoy working with?
TX: Yes. Unfortunately. One was Double R in Love of the Dick 4. I wasn't told of who my partner was and so I didn't find out 'til I got there. I had to meet him at Pitbull. Then, from there we went to the location. En route to the location, Double R was talking to his girl and technically arguing with her. He had her on speakerphone, so everyone that was in the car could hear everything. I thought that was very tacky, and that's what started my whole disdain for the gay-for-pay genre. Because of that I demanded more money. I think any performer who works with a gay-for-pay performer should demand more money because of that.
I forgot the name of the other performer. I think his name was Tyson. I was looking at his picture and I was hoping he wasn't as skinny as he was in the picture. I can do fine with slim, but skinny is another thing. We met face to face and he was skinny. He had a voice that dragged, to be totally honest, like a pothead. It was just annoying as hell to me. That was one time I actually had to really take myself out of my surroundings and put my head someplace else. And I hated doing that. I like to be totally in the moment of doing my scene partner and all.
PC: Who has been the performer with the biggest dick that you have worked with?
TX: The most inches? I believe that would be between Favian Gotti and Ligee. Actually I think Ligee is probably like 11. I'm surprised because of that, you haven't seen him more often.
PC: How and when did you lose your virginity?
TX: Oh boy. (LOL) I bet people are going to laugh when I tell this story. I was seven weeks before turning 31. Yeah. It was actually because I went out to find out exactly who I was. Because I felt since I was about to turn 31, I should finally know what my orientation was. So, I went out to a gay bar for the first time. It was the Splash Bar in New York. There I was dancing with this one guy. He turned out to be a part of a trio. And so that trio met someone else there and we wound up going back to their place. I lost my virginity in a five man orgy. Of the trio, two of them were a couple. One of the guys in the couple was the one to take my virginity. I actually ran into him earlier this year and had a bit of a reunion shall we say.
PC: What do you enjoy doing sexually?
TX: Let me see. I kind of have a thing for giving blowjobs. I tend to be very into getting my partner off, than getting myself off. I think it kind of helps in getting me off. It's kind of the ego thing. Where the fact that you know what you're doing and the excitement on their face kind of adds to your thrill.
PC: On camera you have been a strict bottom ... Have you ever thought of topping on film?
TX: Yes I have. I have thought about that recently, because I've recently been doing more topping off camera. I think it was more of a confidence thing more than anything, to consider topping on camera.
PC: Do you get into any kinds of fetishes?
TX: Yeah! I've been into watersports on occasion. I also have a thing for guys wearing only a t-shirt. I don't hear about that being talked about too much. What else have I been into? As far as fetishes go, that's about it. I do have an underwear fetish. I will admit that. As far as what I'm willing to explore? I did the movie BLAK! Bruthas Live and Kinky!. I took that as a chance to explore the leather fetish.
PC: Describe one of your hottest sexual encounters.
TX: Actually that was recently. The thing that I've noticed as I get older is that sex gets better. Just when you thought you couldn't get any better it seems it is as I'm getting older. Funny thing is, it was pretty simple actually. I was doing a Queens Pride event. There was a fuck buddy I knew in the neighborhood. I was talking to him on the phone after I did my background performing duties for a singer. The conversation went into sex. He was actually supposed to be texting a friend to come over. But after talking so much, I got turned on and he got turned on. I got the invite to come over. I couldn't get there fast enough if I wanted to. Once I got there, we went at it and had a nice flip fucking session.
PC: Tell me how you really feel about gay-for-pay performers.
TX: I'm just going to say that I feel if a performer is in denial of their sexuality, that they are in denial. And they are using money as an excuse to show their gay side. If for whatever reason they don't want to be stigmatized as bisexual, which is actually what I call myself... I feel the difference between me and them is I'm bold enough to say I'm more gay than straight. And they have this stigma over calling themselves bi. Since they call themselves gay-for-pay, then they are probably a lot more straight than gay. The reason I'm so loud about talking about gay-for-pay is because I'm looking out for the younger person who is looking at this as a way to figure out their sexuality. Making it public that these actors call themselves "straight", the younger guys will see these performers as being on the DL is OK... And of course it is not.
PC: What is your opinion on the popularity of bareback sex in gay porn?
TX: I was actually going to write about that. As far as the popularity of it? My feeling is, do what you want. It's pretty much choice. It's all a matter of choice. I think that the popularity of it is because some people who are watching it are actually practicing safe sex themselves, but they want that fantasy of "what if I could live in a world where I don't have to." I don't think the popularity of bareback porn is a sign that so many people are doing it. I think it's the fact of people having the fantasy of it.
PC: You are currently in talks with FlavaWorks to create your own production company. How is that going?
TX: Well to be totally honest, that might not be going at all. That might have actually been halted. I am waiting to talk to Phil at FlavaWorks to confirm a story I've been hearing that they wanted to pay this rapper, whoever he is, Pretty Ricky $100,000 for a photo spread. And if that claim turns out to be true, than I will be seriously considering terminating discussion about working with them.
PC: May I ask why?
TX: Well, sure you can. It's because of the fact that the last time I talked to Phil, before he suggested backing me for a video line... I won't say the exact amount I was offered. But I was offered a 3-digit number. And we came with that 3-digit number because of my previous works. With that in mind, Pretty Ricky's $100,000 makes him being paid 200 to 500 times more than me, or any model with probably less work under their belt than me. I find that quite unfair. For somebody to pay that much for a photo spread... Yeah, I would be paid 200 to 500 times less to have full-on sex on camera. I find that extremely unfair to me and my fellow models within that company.
PC: Tell me about your involvement in the Blatino Awards.
TX: I'm strictly a judge for it. But, like I said. If I speak to Phil and find out this thing to be true, than I will be pulling myself from that as well.
PC: What led to the creation of your official blog site?
TX: It started out because I wanted my own website. At the time, the movie I was doing was taking so long to come out. I had only done Oh Boy Escorts 2. I wanted to do something to create a sort of momentum. I thought, "I like to write and I do have a lot to say." I decided to start doing my blog on my experiences. I never expected it to turn into my soapbox, where I'd become known as this loud voice, standing up for this and standing up for that. I never expected it to turn into that at all. I just expected to blog and talk about this experience and that experience, and people would enjoy it. And that would be it. Over time, I realized that by writing, it gives you a certain power where you can incite change and make people aware of things. That's how it's morphed into the political and controversial blog it's become today.
PC: Your blog has come under a bit of controversy for some of the statements you've made about the gay adult industry. Do you feel your blog is controversial? And what do you say to your critics?
TX: Do I feel it's controversial? Oh I definitely feel it's controversial. Particularly the instance that caused it to be critical was... I made an article about poppers and the writer, the guy who wrote about that particular blog entry, made it seem as if a lot of the things I said over time on my blog was contradicting myself. As with the case in most mainstream press, he took my statements out of context to morph it in a way to make that image. I was clearly able to back up everything I said for them. To do something like that, I find that to be very unprofessional for any writer (whether in gay media, porn media, mainstream media ... Any media!) to behave in such a manner for their own purpose, to finger point and to avoid taking a good look at themselves or whatever the case may be.
PC: What are your future plans in the gay adult industry?
TX: I'm actually, at this point, unsure of my future plans in the industry. There is a possibility I may be bowing out. I kind of don't like the way the industry is going. I'm getting to the point where I'm feeling I have better things to do than try to fight and incite changes. Even if inciting the changes means that I would be starting my own company. It's definitely set in that direction, but there's a part of me that's on the verge of losing the drive to do so. I'm not there yet. But, it's like the business end of it is not fun anymore.
PC: Now I am going to ask you seven questions that I like to call "Papi Chulo's LIST." These seven questions have been asked to all of my interview subjects. The first question is ... What are your Top 5 favorite television shows?
TX: Definitely ABC on Sunday nights: Desperate Housewives and Brothers & Sisters. Also Two and a Half Men. House of Payne. The parents on that show actually remind me of my mom and my stepdad. The New Adventures of Old Christine.
PC: McDonald's Big Mac or Burger King's Whopper?
TX: McDonald's Big Mac. I like the sauce.
TX: Warner Bros.
PC: What's your favorite color?
TX: It used to be blue. Now it's a tie between blue and red.
PC: What's your favorite sexual position?
TX: Missionary. I like the intimacy of seeing my partner's eyes.
PC: What's your favorite curse word?
TX: (LOL) Fuck.
PC: If you could be anywhere right now ... Where would you be?
TX: Fire Island for the first time experience. I keep hearing about it, but have never been.
PC: Well this brings us to the end of our interview ... Is there anything you would like to say to your fans?
TX: I am very thankful for the support that I've gathered thus far. I hope that it continues and whatever I do in the future, be it still in the adult industry or mainstream or both... I hope they continue to be that supportive of me. If not possibly more so. And I'm very thankful for them, because they are the ones that keep the "Tré Xavier" name alive.
