Nick Zano is in talks to join The CW's Melrose Place.
Zano currently plays Courteney Cox's young lover on ABC's Cougar Town. Zano would play a doctor who works with Stephanie Jacobsen's Lauren and Thomas Calabro's Michael at Wilshire Memorial.
If Zano officially joins Melrose, it wouldn't interfere with his Cougar Town commitment. Zano has already shot his final episode with the series.

The Gay & Lesbian Alliance Against Defamation (GLAAD) has reported that the number of lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender (LGBT) characters on broadcast TV is rising. Their 14th annual TV study found that 18 LGBT characters account for 3% of primetime scripted series regular in the 2009-10 television season. That number is up from 1.3% in 2006, 1.1% in 2007 and 2.6% in 2008.
Jarrett Barrios (GLAAD President): "Our analysis also shows where there's still work to be done. This past year, we've seen real progress from many networks toward making their scripted programming more LGBT inclusive. At the same time, we continue to advocate that other networks including CBS follow suit and that networks across the board better reflect the diversity of the LGBT community."
ABC continues to lead the broadcast networks with eight LGBT characters. FOX (which had no regular LGBT characters two years ago) currently has four characters. NBC has three characters. The CW has two and CBS has none.
New LGBT characters include: bisexual Ella on CW's Melrose Place, gay police officer John Cooper on NBC's Southland, Kurt on FOX's Glee and gay couple Mitchell and Cameron on ABC's Modern Family.
The CW has announced that Heather Locklear will return to the network's revamped Melrose Place on November 17, 2009.
Todd Slavkin (Exec producer): "We're ecstatic to have the chance to bring Amanda Woodward back to Melrose Place. Heather's involvement in the show is something we've been working on for some time, as we couldn't imagine creating and producing this show without the iconic character's inclusion."
Locklear will play Katie Cassidy's boss at the PR firm.
Locklear is the latest original castmember to show up on the relaunched series. Former castmates Laura Leighton, Thomas Calabro, Josie Bissett and Daphne Zuniga will also appear this season.
Words can't describe America's Next Top Model contestant Amber. Well, maybe a few can. She's a devout Christian. She loves Jesus Christ. She can shake what her momma gave her. And she's absolutely socially awkward.

The series is about a group of models living together in a co-ed resident in New York ... Blue plays a male model with a "Lenny Kravitz" vibe and Macpherson plays a '80s supermodel who owns the top modeling agency in New York ...
Both guest-starred in the pilot in recurring roles ...
America's Next Top Model executive producers Tyra Banks and Ken Mok have released a statement regarding ousted judge Paulina Porizkova ...
The statement comes after Porizkova announced on CBS' The Late Late Show that she was fired from the series because of her "huge ego" ...
The current state of the economy has forced shows to make major budget cuts industry wide. America's Next Top Model is not immune to these financially challenging times. We've had to make significant cuts in every area of the production and, unfortunately, Paulina was a casualty of these cuts. Tyra, who pursued Paulina to join the show as a judge multiple times, was incredibly saddened by the decision the show was forced to make. We really enjoyed working with Paulina, and we wish her all the best in her future endeavors.
There is no word on who will replace Porizkova's spot at the judges' table ... or if a guest judge will be named on a weekly basis ...
