Madonna stopped by the Yo on E! satellite radio show to promote her upcoming album Hard Candy ...

On the show she addressed everything from Britney Spears ... to the rumors that her marriage is crumbling ...

Here are a few excerpts from the interview ...

On Britney Spears: "They need to step off. For real ... Let's go save her."

On tabloid reports about her marriage: "You know how people are. It is ridiculous. I don't pay much attention to it."

On her recently adopted Malawi-born son David: "He's the life of the party. He loves music, he's an amazing dancer, he's just a character."

On her new album Hard Candy: "It is sexy. I think it's got some hard set beats, but there's some sweetness on top. I like the juxtaposition."

Hard Candy arrives in stores on April 29 ...

Simon Cowell :: Opps ... She Shouldn't Have Performed

American Idol's Simon Cowell gave his two cents on the topic of Britney Spear's notorious 2007 VMA performance ...

"It would have been worth pulling her off the bill - no matter what the cost - to save any chance she had of resurrecting her career. She wasn't ready for that show in every possible way. The song wasn't right, the image wasn't right and she just wasn't rehearsed. The problem she has now is that she could have killed her career. It's difficult to come back from that performance, for a while at least."

I have to say that I absolutely agree with Simon's comments ... I guess we will see what transpires as Brit gets ready to promote her new album ...

Spears Train Wreck Hits 2007 VMAs

I am sure you saw it ... because it has been the talk of the town ...

Britney Spears' "comeback" performance during the 2007 MTV Video Music Awards left tongue's waging and not for the right reasons ...

It appeared as if Brit had forgotten how to lip-sync ... as if she forgot the words of her own song ... and as if she was just "going through the motions" ...

She absolutely put no effort in the moves that she was performing ... She pretty much walked through the choreography ...

And ... she was out of shape ... She certainly wasn't the Britney that I recall dancing with a live python ... or tongue kissing Madonna ...

Kanye West: "They exploited Britney in helping to end her career. When Britney was opening, near the end, I felt so bad for her. I said, 'Man, it's a dirty game. This game will chew you up and spit you out.'"

I agree ...
