Univision's break-out hit for 2008 is Amas de Casa Desesperadas ... Univision's adaptation of ABC's mega-hit Desperate Housewives with a multinational Latino cast ...

Univision worked closely with Disney's Buena Vista TV in producing Amas to make sure it follow the original show in its storyline and characters while tweaking it just a tad with a few cultural adaptations ...
For example ... in the opening episode of Desperate Housewives the four main housewives gather at the home of their recently deceased friend Mary Alice after she commits suicide ... this required some explanation on Amas ...
Otto Padron (Senior Vice President of Programming and Promotions for Univision): "In countries like Mexico and Cuba, people don't do that. They would stay at the funeral home. So in Mary Alice's narration, we have her explain this is a custom in the States."
Desperate Housewives has already been translated and shot throughout the world ... The Univision production follows versions in Argentina, Colombia, Brazil and Ecuador ...
