I sat down with Markus to talk about how he got into the adult industry ... his favorite co-stars ... his brief hiatus from performing ... and his website ...
Papi Chulo: How long have you been in the adult industry?
Markus Ram: I've been in the industry since 2004 when I shot my first video for Chi Chi LaRue (Bang Bang!)
PC: How did you get into the adult industry?
MR: I had been approached earlier than 2004 about doing a video for Jett Blakk. I had never really considered it though until later on. I was working at Falcon as the Web Content Manager. Part of my job was to write about upcoming movies for our newsletter, so I would talk to Chi Chi immediately after a shoot about what the movie was about, how the shoot went, and any other dirt I could get. I was joking one day and said, "Where are 
all the Black guys?" She said, "I'm lookin'. Hell I'd cast you if I could." I thought about it for a day then sent a text message and some pictures. She immediately put me into her next movie so I could "fuck Tag Adams."
PC: How did you come up with your porn name?
MR: Markus Ram is a combo of my top favorite porn first names, and top favorite porn last names. I actually came up with two names I 
liked and my friends were evenly split. One co-worker at Falcon came out really strong for Markus Ram. He told me that I was a big guy with a big dick who loved to fuck. Markus Ram fit that profile and was memorable, so use that. (For the record, the other name was Jai Knight).
PC: Were you always interested in doing porn?
MR: I have always been interested in looking at porn, but had never thought about doing porn before. Moving to San Francisco exposes you to it lots more though. I did some stripping back in the 90's. Then some live JO shows, one and two-man. So the 
jump to porn didn't surprise anyone who knew me well.
PC: What was your first day on a porn set like?
MR: It was for Bang Bang!, and I was nervous as all hell. It was a group scene with some really famous guys, notably Dean Monroe, Tag Adams, and Shane Rollins. The rest of us were pretty much newbies. It was a little intimidating to be with 
guys I had only seen on video before. The scene went pretty well, but it was a long day ... where I learned LOTS. First thing I learned was PORN IS A LOT OF WORK! You gotta show up on set, rested, hydrated, and good-to-go. Second big thing is that it doesn't matter what you do if the camera doesn't see it or the director doesn't know about it. Fucking around off-set with other cute guys is great, but you're there to shoot a movie, not fuck around. And those three guys were really good examples of professionalism that I still carry with me to this day.
PC: Who has been your favorite scene-mate to work with?
MR: I can't even begin to pick a single favorite because there have been some really great times with great partners. I'll toss out some of the ones that stand out: Spencer Quest, Dean Monroe, Shane Rollins, Kris Anthony, Brock Webster, Luca DiCorso, Rob Romoni, Diesel Washington, and Braxton Bond. I just finished shooting Black Balled 6 and I enjoyed working with virtually everyone on the production. So they get a 
special shout-out.
PC: What do you enjoy most about filming scenes?
MR: I like the intensity that you can create with another guy in a sex scene. You kinda get to live out your greatest fantasies in those moments. So I love to totally give myself to it and try to create something special. You know ... that kind of special that makes you go back to that scene to JO over and over again even years later. (wink)
PC: You had a break in the middle of your career ... why did that happen?
MR: I took a break in the middle but it wasn't really my choice. I was working at Falcon as the Web Content Manager when I started doing videos. It was one of the first times someone working within the company had done that. All was OK as long as there weren't any potential conflicts of interest. After a bit though it became clear that having an employee work in that capacity created too many gray areas, so I had to stop doing videos. That happened after my sixth one, Big Muscle for Titan.
PC: When did you stop doing porn and when did you re-start?
MR: I shot my last vid in August 2005, and started back again with Titan in the movie Folsom Prison in February of 2008.
PC: You re-entered the performing world with TitanMen's Folsom Prison. The film you are in is a pretty intense one. You really get pounded by your co-star Diesel Washington. Tell me a little about your experience shooting Folsom Prison.
MR: It was an intense project. And for anyone who knows Diesel that is no surprise. It was very physical and very real with much of the physical stuff because Diesel didn't want it faked. It pushed me in lots of ways as a model too. I was with two guys who were both at least 4-5 inches 
taller than me. So I had to not be "the little guy." There was also pain involved with the sex too, which is not my thing and not easy ... especially when you want to cum. There was also watersports. In all it was about pushing myself and my level of comfort.
One special note that I reflected on much later when a reviewer from Chicago mentioned it ... it was great to be in a scene from one of the major studios that featured two high-profile Black models. That almost never happens in this industry, and for some it was almost controversial that Diesel and I had been used together. It wasn't done for any kind of statement by Brian [Mills]. He did it 
because we really wanted to work with one another. And I'm glad I got that chance.
PC: You have performed as both a top and a bottom correct?
MR: Yeah I've done both top and bottom, mostly top though because that's what I wanted to portray most in my videos. And that's also 
more of what I'm into. My first thought when I see a cute guy is, "Damn I wanna fuck him!" But with a big hot guy I may want to do more. That's why I told Diesel I would come out of retirement to bottom for him. Big man with a big dick. That's how it's gotta be if I'm gonna give it up.
PC: You recently completed working on the latest installment in the popular Black Balled series ... What was your experience like on that set?
MR: It was pretty great. It was one of the best looking groups of guys (of any ethnicity) that I'd ever had the privilege of working with. In fact a group of us went out to dinner both nights after the shoot. And that usually never happens, especially in a place like L.A. where there are so many other guys you could hang with after a long day. But these guys were great. And on a special note it was also a privilege to be around so many other Black men who are also great models. There aren't a huge amount in this industry on the gay side, and these guys really turned me on AND made me step up my game on the set. Ian Rock, Aarin Driver, Scott, Aron Ridge (man oh man I have wanted him since I first saw his picture at Falcon), Eddie Diaz
, and yes our bottom Dylan Saunders. I give that guy mad props for taking as much dick as he did over two days, and being great to work with.
PC: What kind of scenes do you enjoy filming most ... one-on-ones or group sex-style scenes?
MR: There's a little too much going on in group scenes for me. It's hard to focus my sexual energy in a way that comes across well on camera. I prefer sex like I do in my personal life: one-on-one. I can focus on that one guy, and on giving him the greatest sexual experience I can, while also using him to take my own sexual pleasure.
PC: You have starred in a few films that require slight acting (i.e. SpyQuest) and others that get straight to the action (i.e. ManPlay 21) ... Do you have a preference as to what type of projects you attach your name to?
MR: No real preference for projects in terms of action-oriented vs. character-oriented. I like the challenges of both. I love having lines 
and trying to make them not sound like tired clichéd porn lines. And even when I'm in an action movie I still need to create a mood or subtext, or it just looks like random fucking. Right?! The one preference I do have is that I like to do projects where I (Markus Ram) matter. If I'm just stunt dick #5 or Black dick #10, that doesn't really interest me.
PC: What has been your most favorite production to work on?
MR: Hmmm ... SpyQuest was great because of how Spence and I got along, Black Balled 4 was hysterically funny with Rob Romoni, Folsom Prison was great because I knew that it's intensity was really being captured by Brian Mills. And I knew 
it was going to look as great as it did in the final product.
PC: How and when did you lose your virginity?
MR: Hate to admit it, but I lost it WAY-Y-Y-Y-Y-Y-Y early. When I was 12. I lost it to a guy down the street who was 14. By 15 I had pretty much done it all in the vanilla range.
PC: What do you enjoy doing sexually?
