I sat down with Marco to talk about his music career ... his live sex show start ... his "porn superman" status ... and his rise to fame ...

Papi Chulo: First of all ... I want to thank you for doing this interview. I am a HUGE fan of your work. How exactly did you get involved in the adult industry?

Marco Banderas: I started in Barcelona in 2003 doing live shows in a club for two years. I did three 15 minute shows every night. When I realized the talent I had for having sex in front of a crowd, I decided to do porn films. As there is no real adult industry in Spain I came to the capital of porn -- L.A.

PC: How long have you been in the industry? When did you start?

MB: I arrived in 2005 and have been doing one or two scenes every day since. I have done maybe 2000 scenes total so far.

PC: What was your first day on a porn set like?

MB: My first sex scene was very easy, after doing two years of live shows … which are incredibly difficult to master. Having sex in front of so few people on set was nothing for me, as normally each night I would do a show in front of 150 people.

PC: You initially started off doing flicks under the name "Marco Duato" ... Why the name change to "Marco Banderas"?

MB: I changed my name because the Americans didn't know how to pronounce "Duato". Neither did they know how to write it, as I found out in the titles of many films. I decided to take the surname of my countryman Antonio, who also came to the USA to try his luck.

PC: How did you enjoy shooting porn overseas ... and is there a difference in the style of porn in Europe vs. porn in America?

MB: I filmed lots of scenes in Prague, Italy, Dominican Republic, London, and Budapest. The difference is that the Europeans put more emphasis on making porn more feature oriented. I prefer to do gonzo and leave the features to Hollywood actors. Although I love to act in front of the camera, I believe that the people who buy porn want to jack off and not see guys trying to be "actors." Before I started in the industry, I bought porn to jack off, not to watch the dialogue!

PC: So … tell me a little about how you got started doing those live sex shows. I’m sure your fans would love to hear about that experience … I know I would! (LOL) What were some memorable experiences performing those shows?

MB: The live shows are a lot more difficult than the scenes. You need so much more mental control because it is choreographed sex … taking your clothes off and changing position to each music change. The cumshot must be with the last bars of the music. For the Barcelona Erotic Festival, I would do seven shows a day for a week and Rocco Siffredi would come to watch me at work. He said that he could never do what I do.

PC: So far ... what has been one of your favorite scenes that you have starred in?

MB: I don't have favorite scenes. But I have favorite days of filming, such as the day I did five scenes myself with six cumshots for Marco's Crazy Dreams for my own company Hot Zone. If I had to choose a favorite film it would be The Four by Ninn Worx. I'm the male lead and my role is that of the Persian King Xerxes.

PC: You have starred in some terrific scenes. What inspired you to move behind the camera ... to direct and produce movies?

MB: I always thought I could be a good director, as before I got into the industry I was a big porn fan. I think that helped me because I know what the porn public wants.

PC: When did you start up your own production company ... Hot Zone? And what kind of movies have you made for your company?

MB: I started Hot Zone at the start of this year 2007, and at the moment we have one line called Marco's Crazy Dreams. We are up to the second part. For 2008, we have a Latina line planned, and also a big tit line.

PC: You also are an exclusive director for Mercenary Pictures. How is it working with the legendary Lexington Steele?

MB: I love to work with Lex and for Lex. We work really well together as we have the same ideas on how to film and the same taste in women. I have three lines for him, The Darkside of Marco Banderas 1 & 2, Culos Gigantes 1, 2, 3 & 4, and a new line that he has just given me -- Ebony XXX#5.

PC: Do you find it more ... or less work ... when you direct a movie?

MB: I always find it more work when I direct, because I am usually in all the scenes too. It is much more fun to do than just acting, although I have to say I couldn't do any of it if it wasn't for my wife who is my PA and also photographer and cameraman.

PC: Throughout the few years you have been in the industry ... You have collected numerous AVN nominations. If I am not mistaken ... you are currently nominated for seven AVNs ... both as a performer and director ... How does it feel to be recognized for your incredible work?

MB: Just being nominated makes me feel great, it's a big honor. Winning is something very different, as who you know comes more into play more than who is really the best.

PC: Something that most people do not realize ... is that you are one of the top male Latino porn stars in the straight porn industry. Do you ever sit down and think about that? You could be the inspiration a Latino male needs to join the industry.

MB: There are so few Latin performers in the industry that I would love for more to join the ranks because of me. They would add that Latin passion that is so lacking these days.

PC: Most fans may not know that you are a singer! You sang with orchestras and in clubs ... How did you get into singing? Is this something that you are still pursuing? or Is it on the backburner and porn is your focus?

MB: I was born a singer and will feel that way until I die. Porn is just something that took me by surprise. In Spain, singing was my job, but I could never earn as much at it as I do in porn. It still remains my first love and I will keep on trying to make it my real job. At the moment, I am preparing a new song and music video about my life as a performer.

PC: Where can your fans hear your music and possibly purchase a CD?

MB: I haven't made a CD yet, but the fans can hear my music and see the music video on my myspace.

PC: AVN once called you "porn superman" for shooting five scenes in one day ... pop shots and all! You achieved six cum shots in one day without a break ... How did you accomplish that? What was that day like for you? Did you perform a specific dietary regimen to achieve that?

MB: For me doing six cumshots in one day is easy. As I mentioned I’ve done up to seven. I don't have a special diet to do it.

PC: You recently launched your official website ... What kind of exclusive content will be available on that site?

MB: My website is just starting, and unfortunately I have had a bad experience with my webmaster, so it will be on hold until I can get somebody who knows what they are doing to run it for me. I'm sorry if fans have tried to join and can't. I will try to get it up and running again in the new year.

PC: In 2005 you were featured in the second volume of the solo series Str8 Shots ... A series of films that showcase popular straight porn stars jerking off in front of the camera. The series is aimed at female and gay audiences. Famed gay porn director Chi Chi LaRue was at the helm of the series. How do you feel about your gay fan base?

MB: Working with Chi Chi LaRue was really fun. I have done a lot of straight films for Vivid directed by him. I like to have gay fans, as some of my best friends are gay. This is normal as I lived in the gay capital of Europe - Barcelona. I've had some fun times in Sitges.

PC: You recently had your dick molded to create a dildo replica of your hard working dick ... Tell me a little about that process and how it came about. When will it be available for your fans to purchase it?

MB: Topco has started a line called Wildfire which they wanted to include signature pieces from all the top performers of the moment. It was an honor to be contacted by them to do the dildo. It was a fun experience to have the mold done and it will be available for the fans in May 2008.

PC: Let's chat a bit about sex ... How did you lose your virginity?

MB: I lost my virginity with a prostitute in Barcelona when I was 12 years old.

PC: What has been one of your hottest sexual experiences?

MB: My hottest sexual experiences was when I worked in a swingers club when I was 18. Lots of orgies!!

PC: Have you had a chance to live out all your fantasies?

MB: I don't have any more fantasies to live out.

PC: As you mentioned before … you are married in real life … Is it difficult to balance married life and the porn life?

MB: My wife is a performer too. We started together in the industry and we have never had any problems because of it. We are both very liberal.

PC: What is the story behind your tattoo ... "I Love Fiona"?

MB: My wife's stage name is Lisa DeMarco, but her real name is Fiona.

PC: You have a ruggedly muscular physique ... How often do you work out?

MB: I workout four or five times a week, one hour max. More important is the body builders diet which I try to follow every day.

PC: What are your future plans in the adult industry?

MB: My future plans are to direct more films for my company and make it a success, as well as to release a music CD, if the chance comes about.

PC: Do you see yourself eventually retiring from performing ... and just focusing on directing/producing?

MB: I don't want to retire ever! I hope to carry on until I drop.

MB: I don't have time to watch much TV, but when I do, I watch Latin TV stations.

PC: What's your favorite color?

MB: Blue.

PC: What's your favorite sexual position?

PC: If you could be anywhere right now ... Where would you be?

MB: In Barcelona.

MB: I hope to have my website ready for the fans this year. I hate to make them wait and I feel really bad about it. My fans are very important to me and I hope they love my work as much as I love doing it.
